Dr. Erik Pikas, MD, founded Meristem Healthcare PLLC to build the kind of primary care practice he would want as a patient: accessible, evidence-based, personal, and focused on the whole person.
As a family medicine physician, Dr. Pikas provides care across the lifespan and integrates preventive medicine, chronic disease management, mental health care, women's health, pediatrics, lifestyle medicine, and practical wellness support. About Dr. Pikas
Dr. Erik Pikas, MD, brings a broad and practical background to primary care. He earned his medical degree from State University of New York Upstate Medical University and did his internship in Emergency Medicine and residency in Family Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American College of Preventive Medicine, and The Menopause Society.
Before becoming a physician, Dr. Pikas worked as a paramedic in New York for 12 years, caring for people from many different walks of life. That experience helped shape his practical, calm, and patient-centered approach to care, and it continues to inform the way he listens, relates to patients, and builds plans around their real lives. His additional training as a certified fitness trainer, certified nutrition coach, and certified yoga instructor informs his approach to weight loss, physical fitness, nutrition, and lifestyle medicine.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Pikas is an artist, woodworker, former health club owner, and athlete who trains for rock climbing and extreme skiing. These experiences, along with his years in emergency care, give him a practical appreciation for the many different pressures, goals, and life circumstances patients bring to their health.
